It’s no surprise that we only work with the best local suppliers in Western Australia — we thought you might like to meet one of them.
Known for their attention to detail, professionalism, and friendly team, it’s a privilege to partner with Peacock Cabinets. When you sign up for a Principal Renovations transformation, there’s a chance you’ll meet Manny, owner of Peacock Cabinets, in person. Until then, here’s five minutes with our star supplier, Manny.
What made you want to become a Cabinet Maker?
In kindergarten, my best friend’s family had a cabinet making business. He and I would play in the workshop all the time. I eventually learnt the art of cabinet making in 1995 in Blackforest, Germany.
What keeps you excited about your craft?
Seeing the whole project come together from the beginning to completion at the client’s house. I do all kinds of cabinetry including vanities and built-in furniture, but I most enjoy working on kitchens and laundries. If they are well-designed, they can make a huge impact in a person’s home.
What sets you apart in the industry?
The care and attention to detail for each client’s home, and the respect shown there. Also, smart-technology has been a real game-changer for modern cabinetry. We keep up with the new products and materials, the choice of selections, as well as that technology.
Have you got any insights on current kitchen trends people should know about?
Yeah — trends are evolving all the time, but at the moment handle-less kitchen cabinetry is big, and so are timber melamine prints as feature colours. Mixing textures is in, and engineered stone tops are definitely having a moment as well. In the future, I think technology through smart applications and cabinetry will bring an exciting new set of trends.
With renovation and building shows so popular on TV, are people asking for more unique cabinetry?
Yes, we find that people are inspired and influenced by reality TV designs. Because of that, people do a lot more research now in planning their dream kitchen.
How important is great design in making a kitchen work well?
Extremely! Innovative cabinetry design is the most important part of a functional kitchen. A flat-pack kitchen cannot deliver the same results as beautiful custom-made cabinetry.
Laminate or stone? Glass or tile? Drawers or cupboard?
Definitely stone. Glass and tile are both great — it depends on the application and aesthetics. Drawers will always increase storage space, but of course, you can’t really have a kitchen without cupboards.
What made you stay in Australia over Germany?
The great city of Perth (and of course, my wife!). When I’m not creating cabinetry, I love spending time with my family here, although I don’t go back to Germany as often as I’d like to.
What can we expect from Peacock Cabinets in 2019?
More stunning designs, great finishes, and satisfied clients.
